grin and wear it

fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.

Head Case

fall. autumn. that time of year when tv shows finally start again. whatever you want to call it, its quickly on the heels of summer and will be here before you or i know it.  for some of you, this may mean a tear shed over not being able to wear your maxi dress and gladiator sandals for much longer, but for others [like me!] it may mean a welcomed end to the sweaty, oppressively humid, hot nights and days of the last few months.

either way, we have many things to look forward to my friends.

tights season is quickly upon us which means it will soon be time to break out the ankle booties, the knee skimming dresses, that favorite leather jacket and celebrate the return of gossip girl, 30 rock, and the changing of the leaves.  fall style is an array of layered looks with a casual feel paired with some stellar accessories.  and as long as blair waldorf continues to grace our television sets, the headband will continue to be the go-to accessory of the cooler months.

not only does a headband offer about the quickest bad hair day fix since the brush, but it adds that perfect “final touch” to any outfit.  but don’t get me wrong, the fall go-to is not  the simple plastic version we all knew too well as kindergartners.  we’re talking feathers, flowers-pretty much anything with flair.

try a version like the black moulin for drama:

Black Moulin Headband

or the polka-dot feather for a playful, bohemian vibe:

Polka-Dot Feather Headband

or for a saccharine-like sweetness, the pink silk flower:

Pink Silk Flower Headband

the best thing about one of these bad boys? longevity.

wear with hair up, hair down, center part, side bangs-any style could use a little extra va-voom! they’ll take you from jeans and a t-shirt by day to little black dress date nights.  one of these not-so bad boys will take you right through the holiday party season and then some.  so snag one before gossip girl returns and perhaps people will think good ol blair waldorf is taken a cue from you-and not vice versa.

Keep Your Eye on the Target.

Reasons why you should love Holly Hunter:

Holly Hunter

-That sexy gritty voice of hers and the way that she talks out of the side of her mouth, yet still, somehow is ferociously feminine.

-The fact that she was in a made for tv movie about Roe vs. Wade

-That underappreciated Home for the Holidays movie which I [personally] loved!

-Her amazing AMAZING long golden wavy locks

-The way that she kicks major bad-boy butt on her new show Saving Grace

Holly Hunter

The list goes on but the point is that this lady is  always doing something fierce and kicking ass but  looking like quite the femme while doing it.

So take a cue from miss hunter on this one and hop  on the circular earring bandwagon.  This look is best  by itself-so that these jewels get to stand alone!  Put  on a sexy black dress, let your hair down, and find a  pair of target-like earrings to try on for size.

Onyx Hoop Earrings

If a light and feminine earring sounds like your thing, try a pair of these beaded circular hoops which have a slight bohemian feel.

If you desire a bold and more modern look seek out a graphic style like this black and white version: Black and White BullsEye Earrings.

Black & White Bill's Eye Earring

Either way, throw on a pair of these bad boys and i guarantee you’ll be hearing multiple comments of “BULLSEYE!”

“Guess who’s back? Back again...”

so….

i know what you’re wondering: “where in the world have you been?!?!?!”  and quite frankly, what a fair question to ask!  [even i am not necessarily sure of the answer] but i do have some reasonable explanations to offer…

  1. i scheduled a vacation to travel around the world. literally.  do you know that it only costs like 8 grand to do that and you get to play the hop on/hop off airplane game in 40 cities?
  2. i took an anti-technology vow for six months in order to get back in touch with my life and aspirations and free myself of the dependence i have on my cell phone, my ipod, my phonograph-whatever the case maybe.  granted, i’m back now somewhere early into month four, because i realized that finding ways to online shop are just much much too difficult without the internet.
  3. i picked up and left the big city, moved to the smaller city of philadelphia, and am working to open a cafe and knitting store, re-learn to ride a bike, and figure out how to love a city so obsessed with cheesesteaks as someone who doesn’t eat steak with or without cheese on it.
  4. i’ve started furiously online dating, met the love of my life, and have been so furiously swept off of my feet that i haven’t been able to even touch a toe back down on solid ground, let alone a key on the keyboard.
  5. some sort of combination of the above…

pick whichever option will allow for you to be the most understanding [and gain me some cool and adventurous points] in your book.

my apologies but i’m back for good this time!

xo.
